Significant scientific research has shown that rheumatoid arthritis is triggered by stress. Chronic stress. But how is chronic stress created? And more importantly, what can you do to relieve chronic stress, so healing can begin?
Dr. Joe Dispenza, a neuroscientist, lecturer and author, has done extensive research over many years and interviewed various people who had experienced spontaneous remissions. Some of these people faced illnesses that were potentially fatal and whose doctors told them they only had a few months to live. He was curious about their healing and what they believed was the cause of their disease.
Without fail, they all gave him the same answer.
All of them told Dr. Joe Dispenza that they believed what caused their illness was their own internal thinking and reactions that created the illness. They admitted that, looking back, they had been feeling very angry, frustrated, unhappy or even bitter for a very long time. And that they didn’t blame anyone else but themselves.
Research, like dr. Joe Dispenza’s, shows that it is not the genes, but the environment, that push or trigger genetic buttons that cause disease. And when he speaks of the environment, he’s talking about the internal environment. In other words our thinking and our beliefs.
When your personal beliefs are destructive then overtime these create chronic stress in your body, which in turn manifests the illness. In this case rheumatoid arthritis. By changing what you believe, your internal environment, your body is then able to produce different kinds of protein. The kinds of protein that generate health.
Healthy beliefs mirror a healthy body.
Now, in the title I wrote that chronic stress is the creator of rheumatoid arthritis. But actually, it is the internal environment that creates chronic stress, which in turn affects your physiology. There are three kinds of stress: physical, chemical and psychological. But the first two result (eventually) in psychological stress. I.e. the internal environment.
You may feel angry, guilty or even afraid reading that your internal environment is ultimately the source of chronic stress that triggers rheumatoid arthritis. But this is not intended to make you feel bad. In fact, this is good news! For you now know that you are not the victim of genes, but that you can significantly change the state of your well-being by changing the beliefs that continue the chronic stress in your body.
If the internal environment can create illness, then it must also be possible that the internal environment can generate healing and possibly health. Wouldn’t you agree?
That’s why healing within is so important. Holistic healing is about changing your internal environment. The beliefs that create the chronic stress in your body no longer need to be there. It is an internal state, a reflection of what you believe to be true about you.
From a spiritual point of view, these beliefs are not in alignment with your authentic self and that’s why these create so much pain.
When you replace destructive (unhealthy) beliefs with beliefs that are in harmony with who you really are (‘worthy, more than good enough, loved’), then in time your body will start to reflect that and no longer be in a state of chronic stress.
